I'm in the subby rider camp. I believe in making the bike fit you. You need to be comfortable on your bike. 
I do also wish they made more models "short rider friendly" but not a 250 or 300 motor. Just because i'm short doesn't mean i don't want or can handle some power. Just sayin.
Anyway. Good luck with lowering it!
