With my bike stored for winter and Hubby's torn down at the mechanic's, we have become bored on the weekends. No more shopping, no more 50 & 60'F's, lousy football team, not much happening, so we decided to walk the local parks, no so much for the exercise that we both need but for something to do for an hour or 2. We are very fortunate to have our public Cleveland Metroparks and Lake Metroparks, my tax dollars doing their best work (and my library tax dollars, too), a network of thousands of acres of groomed trails through beautiful forests, meadows, ponds, natural and maintained land with full access. Also educational facilities, rehabilitation centers, working maple sugar house, Lake Farm Park with farm animals and hands on exhibits, all true and real gems that span several counties and is called "the Emerald Necklace". We ride our bikes on the paved roads through the park but this winter will do a few miles on foot.
I'll share a few pictures with you from this weekend.
Me and our littlest dog, Cricket, the Cocker Spaniel with her nose to the ground, as usual.
These guys are fishing for steelhead trout. Normally the river is frozen by this time. We saw 1 fish caught, it was released.
This guy is waiting for a chance at the fish, too.
There are a lot of bat house and other wildlife nesting boxes.
I don't know if park people start the fire in the morning but patrons throw on a log when needed, warm but a lot of smoke.
These were everywhere, saw about 7, they're cautious but not afraid.
Her best side, beautiful.
The boss of them.
None of the deer were concerned or spooked by the people or the dogs, and there are a lot of dog walkers. Some of the does were less than 10' from us.
It was cold, mid 30's and very windy but we stayed on the forest trails and had some protection. A few hours well spent.
Walking, Not Riding....
Walking, Not Riding....
I've been there before. Can I get there, again?

Love your pictures! I do a lot of walking and love it but rarely take pictures. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a good shot
The journey is the destination
